avtomaktablar / Roadmap

UZS ∑

In short: as of October 2026, a category B licence in Tashkent costs roughly 8.5–11 million UZS if you pass everything first time. The main items are the driving school (usually 5–8 million), two exams (1.5 million each) and the licence fee (about 308,000). Each retake adds 1.6 million.

When students ask how much a licence costs, they usually mean the school fee. But the school's price is only half to two-thirds of the final total. Below we have listed every expense in the order it actually comes up. Figures are as of October 2026; the base calculation amount (BRV), which sets state fees, is 440,000 UZS since 1 September 2026. All payments are made in sum.

Driving school: why prices vary

According to Kun.uz, at the end of 2025 a full course in Tashkent cost 6–7 million UZS: about 6.5 million at state schools, about 7 million at large private schools in the centre and at centres with their own test ground, and about 6 million at schools in residential districts. Reports from 2026 quote 7–10 million for a full course in the capital. Regional schools are usually 1–2 million cheaper.

What drives the price:

  • the car — a manual Cobalt or Gentra costs less than newer models;
  • the district — Yunusabad, Mirabad and Mirzo-Ulugbek tend to cost more than Sergeli or Bektemir;
  • the format — a personal schedule costs more than a group;
  • own practice ground — schools with their own test ground charge more but save you travel time;
  • theory — since 1 February 2026 theory attendance for category B is optional, and some schools now sell a practice-only package.

You can compare prices by district in the Tashkent driving school catalogue and under category B in Tashkent.

Questions that prevent surprise charges

  1. How many hours of driving are included — hours, not "lessons".
  2. What an extra hour costs.
  3. Whether a session on the exam test ground is included before the exam.
  4. Whether you can pay in instalments and what happens to the money if you stop.
  5. Whether there is a separate charge for the "electronic certificate". Under Cabinet Resolution No. 642 of 15 October 2025, electronic training certificates are generated in the e-avtotaʼlim system free of charge.

Exams: two payments and possible retakes

In Tashkent and the regional capitals, exams are run by the unified exam centres (yim.uz), operated by a licensed private company with 14 branches nationwide. Fees under the centre's public offer as of October 2026:

  • theory, first attempt: 1.5 million UZS;
  • practical, first attempt: 1.5 million if paid on the day you pass theory, 1.6 million on any other day;
  • each retake of theory or the practical: 1.6 million.

These prices have applied since 6 January 2026. Before that an exam cost 1 million and a retake 1.2 million; in 2024 it was 500k and 600k. Fees are not refunded whatever the result, and missing your slot without a valid reason counts as the service delivered.

The public services regulation (Cabinet Resolution No. 271) sets fees of 10% of BRV per exam and 15% per retake when the traffic police run the exam themselves, but a licensed private centre sets its own prices, so go by the yim.uz tariffs. Centre locations by region are listed under test grounds and exam centres.

Two rules that hit the budget directly:

  • you can retake theory or the practical only after at least 7 days;
  • a theory pass is valid for two months; if you miss the practical in that window, you pay for theory again.

Three budget scenarios

Calculated for Tashkent, October 2026.

Item Tight Typical With retakes
Medical 150k 250k 250k
Driving school 5m 6.5m 6.5m
Extra driving hours 0 5 h × 200k = 1m 8 h × 200k = 1.6m
Theory + practical 3m 3m 3m
Retakes 0 0 1.6 + 1.6 = 3.2m
Licence card 308k 308k 308k
Total ≈ 8.5m ≈ 11.1m ≈ 14.9m

The gap between the first and third columns is 6.4 million UZS, and nearly all of it comes from not being ready for the exam, not from the choice of school.

Costs that never appear on the price list

  • A warm-up before the exam. Renting a training car at the test ground or an hour with your instructor the day before. Worth it: one retake costs as much as 7–10 hours of driving.
  • Travel. If the school is in Chilanzar and you live in Yunusabad, three months of taxis add up. Learn near home or work.
  • A second medical. If your 083 certificate expires before you finish, you need a new one.
  • An expired theory pass. The two-month rule again: another 1.6 million.
  • Switching from automatic to manual. If you started on an automatic, you will need extra manual hours before the exam.

Where you can genuinely save

  • Study theory yourself and buy only practical lessons from the school, if you are disciplined.
  • Choose a school in your own district rather than a "famous" one across town.
  • Book the exam when your instructor says you are ready, not when you feel impatient.
  • Do not skimp on 2–3 hours of practice on the exam ground.
